Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest


Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest is a 14,000 acre nature park, arboretum, arts facility and preserve located in central Kentucky just south of Louisville. The park features more than 50 miles of hiking trails, an arboretum featuring more than 6,500 specimens, outdoor recreation, environmental education programs, arts programs and opportunities to enjoy the solitude of nature. It is the official arboretum of Kentucky. The Visitor Center is one of this region's most environmentally intelligent public buildings. A canopy tree walk provides access to life in the tree tops. Bernheim is an excellent place to spend several hours or several days connecting with nature at your own pace.

Bernheim Visitor Center,  LEED Platinum Environmental Award
Bernheim's Visitor Center received the highest award from the US Green Building Council. The LEED Platinum award. This is the only building to receive this award level in a five state area.

Hours of Operation
Bernheim is open all year from 7:00 a.m. until sunset. (Closed Christmas and New Year's days)
