Captain Planet Foundation
Captain Planet Foundation awards grants ranging from $250 to $2,500 to public schools and 501(c)3 non-profit organizations that serve youth in grades K-12 for hands-on environmental education projects. Grantees are selected based on the positive environmental impact that will result from their proposed project, the ability for the project to be sustainable over time and the project’s effectiveness in using an investigative approach and student directed learning.
Captain Planet Foundation strives to create the platform for youth to better understand their environment by helping the grantees through their grant proposals, to identify the negative impact a modern society can have on their community. CPF then provides the resources for youth, through small grants, to repair the damage to ecosystems in their communities and in many cases prevent further deterioration. Through the process they become more connected with their school and community surroundings while gaining the skills needed to apply what they learn in the classroom to situations in their everyday lives that require critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
